Healthcare Revolution Enabled by Machine-to-Machine Communication - Bringing Vital Data to the Cloud - m2m Apps
MUNICH --(Business Wire)--
With an ageing society, a growing number of non-communicable disease
sufferers, and rising healthcare costs, solutions are in demand for
assisted living, mobile health, and home care. These solutions must be
available soon, designed for user-friendliness, cost-effectiveness and
compliance with security standards. Supported by the Title Sponsors
Swisscom (News - Alert), Ericsson and sponsors Telit Wireless Solutions, VARTA
Microbattery, the M2M Challenge innovation competition is seeking top
solutions in different fields including healthcare.
Swisscom, Switzerland's leading telecom provider is offering customers
the Limmex Emergency Watch enabling the wearer to set up a phone call to
selected people or emergency call center. The Limmex watch is world's
first such Emergency Watch, made possible by sub-compact dimensions of
the Telit GE865-QUAD GSM/GPRS module.
GlucoTel™, the glucose monitoring and management system by BodyTel is
another example of how patients can benefit from new health monitoring
systems enabled by M2M communication.Vital data is sent via Bluetooth
to a home gateway, which sends the data in an SSL encrypted connection
to a secure online database. On both the measuring side as well as the
cloud, the system guarantees that data will not be hacked or seen
without permission.
Concepts for innovative M2M healthcare solutions can be submitted for
the "M2M Challenge", the international innovation competition in the
field of M2M, through December 31, 2012 at www.m2m-challenge.com.
An international panel of renowned experts will evaluate the submissions
on criteria including market potential, degree of technological
innovation, and novel usage of the "Internet of Things". The winner will
receive a cash prize of USD 5,000 and all finalists will get the
opportunity to present their solutions to a large audience of
international industry and media representatives.
